Checkmate College is $210 per month and starts with two monthly service periods for new memberships. Month 1 includes two Team Huddles to build the Semester Game Plan, start making Moves, and put the plan into real college life. Month 2 includes two more Team Huddles to follow through, find a rhythm, and stay ahead. After that, membership continues month to month.

Your first two months include four guaranteed Team Huddles, plus ongoing support between them. The first Team Huddle builds the Semester Game Plan and starts real Moves. The next three give the student time to use the plan through actual classes, deadlines, questions, and changes.
The first Team Huddle maps the semester and gets real Moves underway. The second helps put the plan into practice.
Two more Team Huddles help the student adjust, stay ahead, and keep the semester moving.
$210/month · starts with 2 months · then month-to-monthThe minimum initial commitment for a new membership is two monthly service periods ($420 total). Existing Checkmate College memberships that continue directly into Checkmate College do not restart the initial commitment.

Checkmate College was built from firsthand experience in college advising.
I have worked directly with students for many years as both a teacher and college advisor. In college advising, I have helped students understand options, build academic plans, navigate registration and requirements, think through college and career goals, and make sense of the decisions that come with moving through college.
That experience became the blueprint for Checkmate College: clear next Moves, consistent access, proactive follow-through, and one teammate who stays connected to the whole semester while working alongside the advisors and campus resources students already have.
Before that, I was an English teacher and writing center tutor. I learned how to break complicated information into clear steps and help students build confidence as they move forward.

Simple answers before your first Move.
Do I have to use Checkmate College first?
No. If you are already in college, you can start directly with Checkmate College. Your first Board begins with your current semester.
What if something is already going wrong?
That is exactly why the Starting Position asks what needs attention right now before the rest of semester setup. A class problem, financial aid issue, registration hold, missed work, basic-needs concern, major uncertainty, overwhelm, or another college problem can be surfaced immediately to your teammate.
What does Checkmate College include?
The $210 monthly membership includes two guaranteed 30 minute Team Huddles per monthly service period. The first Team Huddle is centered on building the Semester Game Plan and starting to make Moves. Membership also includes a personalized semester Board, organization and proactive accountability, course and deadline support, registration and degree-progress guidance, financial-aid-process guidance, professor or advisor questions, campus-resource navigation, transfer planning, major or career exploration, and quick human access between Team Huddles. If something important genuinely needs more live time, the student can ask Travis for an extra Team Huddle. One additional 30 minute Team Huddle may be approved for that service period, subject to availability, at no additional charge. Extra Team Huddles are need-based, not automatic monthly appointments.
Why does a new Checkmate College membership start with two months?
The first two months include four guaranteed Team Huddles plus ongoing support between them. The first Team Huddle builds the Semester Game Plan and starts real Moves. The next three give the student time to follow through through actual classes and deadlines, adjust when something changes, find a rhythm, and stay ahead. How is Checkmate College different from my college advisor?
Your college advisor is an important part of your team, and Checkmate College does not replace them. Advisors help with institutional requirements, academic planning, registration, policies, and other areas within their role. Your Checkmate College teammate helps connect those conversations to the rest of your semester, prepare you for meetings, turn recommendations into clear next Moves, keep track of follow-through, and notice when something starts to stall. We want you to use your advisor and your college's other resources. Your teammate helps you know when to use them, what to ask, and what to do next.
Will my parent or family automatically see my Board?
Not if you are an adult student. Adult students control their own sharing. A person paying for membership does not automatically receive access to the adult student’s Board or private information. Minor-student access follows the applicable parent/guardian permissions and consent process.
What happens between Team Huddles?
Your teammate stays within reach. Send a Board message, text, email, or call when a quick question comes up instead of saving everything for the next Team Huddle. Messages that come in during the day are answered that same day. Messages that come in late at night are answered the next morning, often by 7 AM. Longer conversations and planning belong in a scheduled Team Huddle. Checkmate College is not a 24/7 or emergency service.
What happens at the end of the semester?
When the semester reaches SEMESTER CHECKMATE ✓, that semester is preserved in My Archive. If you continue, your college, major/program, teammate, and useful long-term context can carry forward while courses, My Week, Success Check, and semester-specific Moves start fresh.
What if my college’s resources are not built in yet?
You can still start. Checkmate College works even before school-specific resources are built in. Your teammate can help you find the right official campus resource while more school-specific resources are added over time.
